I used baby shampoo on my foundation brush and rubbed it into the cleaning mat and then rinsed it. It’s amazing how much residue came out of the brush. This Silicone Makeup Brush Cleaning Mat is a helpful tool to use when cleaning brushes. I usually just use my hand, and I still do some, but this definitely helps. It works a bit easier with smaller brushes than larger ones. There are suction cups on the bottom, so you can stick this to the bottom or side of your sink, and then you run the brushes on the different textures on the mat to help get between the bristles of the brushes.I can't for sure say it gets them cleaner, but it does make the process easier for me. Don't forget to clean the mat when you are done though.
